  • Arrowtown

Only a 20 minute drive away this is a great place for shopping, dining, walking, exploring and photography.  You are able to make a loop trip from Queenstown going out via Arthurs Point (seeing the Shotover Jet) and then into Arrowtown past the Millbrook Golf Resort.  On you way back head along the road to Lake Hayes with its walking track round the lake, then in to Queenstown maybe with a quick stop at the Historic Bridge over the Shotover River.

  • AJ Hackett Bungy Jump, Kawarau River

25 minutes drive to the AJ Hackett Bungy Jump is worthwhile for would be bungy jumpers as well as spectators.  The building you enter has a great overview of the history of bungying and you get to see exactly what holds on to you when you jump.  Great entertainment all round.

  • Around the Basin

  • High Country Farm Experiences

With Walter Peak and Mt Nicholas beckoning across the lake both these options include a cruise on Lake Wakatipu.  Travelling to Walter Peak on the TSS Earnslaw and on a modern catamaran to Mt Nicholas, this is a great way to learn more about farming in alpine regions.  Merino sheep are the mainstay of these farms.  Learn more about farming activities and enjoy the hospitality of these farming communities.

  • Glenorchy

Said to be one of the most scenic drives in New Zealand and maybe the world, Glenorchy, at the head of Lake Wakatipu has much to offer.  You might like to try walking part of the one of the great walks – the Routeburn or jet boating into the wonderful beech forest of the Dart River Jet. Horse and bike riding are also available.

  • Shotover Jet

Just 5 minutes drive or take the Shotover Jet Bus from downtown Queenstown, the Shotover Jet is a lot of fun and laughs for all the family.  Based at Arthurs Point on the Shotover River, this jet boating experience is extra special travelling through the Shotover Gorge and proving how miraculous the Hamilton Jet engine is for boating. Be thrilled.
